Many schools have long histories and occupy historic buildings that require particular attention to detail and quality of finish. Whitescape has considerable experience of refurbishing buildings to conservation standards and sourcing sympathetic and appropriate materials. Importantly, we employ all our own operatives, so can ensure complete compliance with listed building or conservation requirements.

Some examples of our work on historic buildings

At Brighton & Hove High School for Girls, we undertook a £380K, sixth-month external refurbishment to a Grade II listed building dating back to the 1700s, including sash windows, roofing, leadwork and stonework.

At Farleigh School, Andover, a Catholic preparatory day and boarding school, our alterations to the Grade II listed Georgian country house included refurbishing the Chapel, central to school life and also used for weddings.

A range of projects at the Grade I listed Founders Building, Royal Holloway College, University of London, includes laboratory refurbishments, toilet upgrades and the creation of teaching space.

“I would like to place on record my thanks, as the School’s PM, for your excellent management of the chapel works to achieve a challenging partial completion for the wedding. I know Father Simon and Marcus, the Music Director were very grateful. The completed works look really good and your attention to the client’s concerns was exemplary.”
