Sport England is focused on the delivery of a mass participation legacy from the London 2012 Olympic and Paralympic Games. The Inspired Funding programme invests National Lottery and Exchequer funding in organisations and projects that increase capacity at clubs and attract a greater diversity of people to take up sport.

Whitescape is working in partnership with Sport England through a four-year framework to design and build these new facilities. The framework is unique in that the contractors employ the professional team directly including feasibility reports, project management and administration, cost management, design and CDM responsibility. We also undertake planning applications and building control approvals.

Some examples of our work with Sport England

At Highworth Recreation Centre, Wiltshire, Whitescape updated the reception area and converted the old changing rooms to a new changing village with showers, lockers, cubicles and a wet room for disabled users. This high-quality, robust environment was designed and installed by Whitescape, in a £150K project supported by Swindon Borough Council, Highworth Town Council and Aiming High disabilities fund, as well as Sport England.

At Cam Parish Council’s Jubilee Playing Field, Whitescape built a new changing room block for the local youth football club and other recreational activities. The £294K, 16-week programme involved removing the eight-ton, 40ft containers being used for changing and replaced them with a 110m², block and brick-faced building with home and away changing rooms, toilets, a separate social area with kitchen leading off it, electric heating and plant room.

Bridgwater College Academy, originally formed from three schools, was the first Academy in Somerset to go through from age four-18. The Academy has a brand new, floodlit, full size 3G pitch suitable for football training, high-level matches and also hockey and rugby training. It is also rented out to the local community. Whitescape built a £300K extension to the existing sports hall to create separate home and away changing rooms for the pitch.

“Thank you for all your help in giving Cam Parish Council our great new sports building.”
